Give Toys, Blood and Food

 

                One-stop giving for the holidays is the theme for the Giving is Living event on Sunday, Dec. 16.

From 11 a.m.-3 p.m., donate toys, give blood, and/or contribute food.

                Held at the South Elgin Community United Methodist Church at 400 W. Spring St., the opportunity to support the community is co-sponsored by the South Elgin Police Department, Heartland Blood Centers, the South Elgin Food Pantry and the South Elgin Community United Methodist Church.

                Toys should be new and unwrapped. Food should be non-perishables, but can include personal care items and paper goods.

                Drop-ins are welcome, but to schedule a time to donate blood, visit www.heartlandbc.org, text 444-999, or call 1-800-7TO-GIVE. To prepare to give blood, eat well, stay hydrated and bring photo ID.

                Toys can be dropped off at the South Elgin Police Department, 10 Water St., South Elgin., 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday.

                Toys and food can be brought to the church Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays 9 a.m.-noon and Sundays 8-11:30 a.m.
