Lent Series Begins at Village Church

A new Lent series has begun at South Elgin Community United Methodist Church at 400 W. Spring St. All are welcome. Sunday services are held at 9 a.m. Adult and children’s Sunday School is at 10:15 a.m.

The church’s theme for the 40-day Lent series is “What R U Up 2?”

While many people observe the tradition of giving something up for Lent, this year we are asking people to consider

adding

something to their lives… a means of service, of sacrifice, or of devotion. Resources and suggestions will be available.

Palm Sunday Service will be at 9 a.m. April 9.  Maundy Thursday will include foot washing and communion at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 13 . Good Friday Service at 7 p.m. April 14 will be a Tenebrae Service of Darkness.

Easter Sunday, April 16, will include the Sunrise Service held by this church every year at 6 a.m.  at the South Elgin Cemetery, 925 Middle Street, South Elgin followed by the traditional joyful Easter Service at 9 a.m. at the church.

The church is handicapped accessible. More information is at the website at

or available by calling 847-931-0563 from 9 a.m.-noon Monday, Wednesday, or Friday.
